Friendly neighbourhood Hose and Hound
Kelsey:
After some Sled Island music fabulousness and libations, I found myself in need of a tasty snack last Saturday: cue The Hose and Hound Neighbourhood Pub.
Located in Calgary’s old No.3 Fire Hall, these days the Hose and Hound serves up an extensive menu. (Cody has been known to stop in on occasion for the wings.)
Being a decent day without rain (those are so rare in Calgary lately), Terri and I decided to eat on the patio. It was quiet, there was music and the weather was decent. I had a beer and clam to start as it’s one of my favourite post drinking aperitifs.
There were several things on the menu I wanted to try but I settled on the Steak and Spolumbo’s Sausage Pie. Having an infinite love for Scotland, my favourite dish while there is the steak pie so I was looking forward to a little nostalgia and a good hearty meal.
The Hose and Hound delivered, the meat was rich and tasty and the pastry was flaky and light as a cloud. The gravy was a bit runny, but bygones. At $13, I considered it quite the steal of a deal.

Terri had the Firehall Burger ($12) with fries. She had hers with a slice of havarti, something I definitely want to try on my next burger. The beef gravy was rich and thick and the fries were deep-fried deliciousness.
Great patio in a great neighbourhood.
